GABA (or gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a compound found in nearly all life on earth. Whilst GABA has many roles in the human body, in the brain it functions as a neurotransmitter. GABA modulates brain and central nervous system activity, causing feelings of relaxation and calmness, opening the door to a sense of ease in social situations and all the positive benefits these moments can bring.

GABA Spirits are designed to increase the effectiveness of the calming effects GABA provides. GABA Spirits do not raise your GABA levels, nor do they contain GABA itself as an active ingredient. We do not use GABA as an active ingredient because ingested GABA cannot pass from your bloodstream through what is known as the blood brain barrier (BBB), and then on into your brain. Instead, GABA Spirits contain active ingredients that can pass the BBB and modulate the effectiveness of the GABA naturally produced by your brain.

SENTIA Spirits contain an all-natural “GABA blend” that has two major components. “GABA enhancers,” which increase the effectiveness of your brain’s natural GABA and “bio-enhancers,” which help absorption of GABA enhancers from your gut, into your bloodstream, and then across the blood brain barrier.

The SENTIA Spirits GABA blend is the result of extensive bioprospecting, investigative, and pharmacological research. Selected ingredients are combined, proportioned, and extracted for optimal absorption, bioavailability (the proportion of a substance entering the bloodstream when entering the body) and efficacy.

Whilst there is GABA in SENTIA Spirits (because GABA is found in all plants), GABA is not an active ingredient, because orally ingested GABA is not known to cross the blood brain barrier (BBB). Instead, the SENTIA Spirits GABA blend enhances the effectiveness of the GABA naturally produced in the brain.

Ordered the red. Didn't taste very nice and had no effect on me. Waste of money.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that SENTIA did not meet your expectations. SENTIA consists of a blend of concentrated botanicals which can be challenging for some palates. As for lack of effect, there could be a number of reasons for this:
Individual variances: Your GABA system is very much your own, and individual chemistry varies from person to person, so the experience of SENTIA will vary too.
Alcohol in system: Regular alcohol drinkers may have a high tolerance to GABA release, which will moderate the SENTIA experience. Studies suggest that you can reset your tolerance to GABA release by refraining from drinking for 2 to 3 weeks.
SSRI’s: (Selective Serotonin Inhibitors) anti-psychotics, tranquillisers and some epileptic medications may inhibit the effects of SENTIA.
Expectations: SENTIA is not designed to get you “drunk”, but offer a more refined experience. All feelings are of course very subjective, and will vary from person to person.

tastes really well, I mix it with tonic and some ice.
I do think it takes the edge off/has anxiety-reducing quality. But I'm mostly enjoying the taste and the texture.

Worked for me

I was a bit sceptical around whether I would be able to get that relaxed feeling that alcohol initially provides but it really worked for me. I felt more chatty and at ease this really helped me to wind down in the evening. Will definitely be purchasing some more. Very quick UK delivery too.

Lovely relaxing drink to have in an evening after a busy day. I drink 50mls and top up with two small tins of tonic in a balloon gin glass topped with ice n a slice of orange. Best alcohol free alternative I’ve tried , I need to try the Gold and Black now.
